Susanna Halmela

I assist Fondia's customers in privacy and data protection matters in a business-oriented and solution-focused manner. I have extensive experience as a data protection lawyer in both the private and public sectors. I have worked as a legal expert in the development of various digital services and solved data protection issues in areas such as the financial industry, scientific research, and healthcare. Additionally, I have worked as a Senior Officer in the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman and participated in the working groups of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB). Before joining Fondia, I worked as a Data Protection Officer in a digital services company.

I graduated with a Master of Laws from the University of Turku in 2017. My particular areas of interest include data and artificial intelligence, and I completed an MBA degree in the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program at Tampere University of Applied Sciences in 2023. I am a member of the IT Law Association and IAPP and hold a CIPP/E certificate.

In my free time, you are most likely to bump into me at the gym. My hobbies also include dance, padel, and ice swimming.
